Adult TCKs often already know that growing up between cultures has shaped them. The harder question is what to do when they still feel stuck: in relationships that aren’t working, uncertainty about career or life direction, difficulty finding a place that feels like a good fit, or patterns around identity and belonging that don’t seem to go away.
Inner Signal helps clients get beneath the surface of these challenges to understand what’s actually contributing to them. Instead of offering generalized explanations about identity or assuming everything comes from being a TCK, we look at the whole person, including their individual nature, experiences, relationships, environments, and culture.
We offer perspective, identify blind spots and patterns that can be difficult to see from the inside, and help clients work through the impact of past experiences that may still be influencing how they think, make decisions, and relate to their lives today. This can help clients resolve challenges that have kept them stuck, gain clarity about what they want, and make choices that fit who they are.
For some clients, this means navigating career or relationship challenges. For others, it may mean understanding a persistent sense of not belonging, deciding where they want to live, or figuring out whether something within themselves needs to change or their environment isn’t a good fit.
Co-founder Akiyo Kodera is an adult TCK who grew up between Japan and the United States. Her own experience with identity and belonging eventually led her to recognize that culture was only one part of the story. That understanding, together with her work with clients from varied backgrounds, informs Inner Signal’s individualized approach to working with adult TCKs.
